Investment Banking CertificationQuestion: How important is it to create a good rapport with colleagues and peers as an investment banking professional?

Answer: Creating and maintaining a good rapport with colleagues is extremely important in the world of investment banking. Keep in mind that virtually every investment banking deal is completed by a team rather than by any one individual banker. From the bottom of the team (the analyst) to the top of the team (the managing director), work will be most efficient and enjoyable when the team members are friendly and have respect for one another. Another reason for maintaining a good rapport is that advancement and financial compensation (in the form of annual bonuses) are largely dependent upon reviews from co-workers.
