Investment Banking CertificationQuestion: How important is technology in the investment banking industry? Do investment banking professionals use the internet, computers, etc.?

Answer: In the current time, technology is of the utmost importance to investment bankers. At the senior banker level, the technological exposure may be as simple as a near-constant communication link (via a smartphone) to quickly respond to clients and to direct junior bankers in the work efforts. At the more junior banker level, a vast majority of work is done on the computer with a focus on Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint slide presentations and Word documents (for sales memos and the like). Company financial reports can easily be retrieved via the internet and financial news is monitored online (or via subscription services) throughout the work day (and after hours).
